Relay latching circuit using push button we connect relay and push button as per figure.
Latching relay circuit diagram.
When the push to make button is pressed 12v goes across the coil energising the relay.
Resistor r1 and r4 work as a current limiting resistor for transistor q1 and resistors r2 and r3 work as current limiting resistor for transistor q2.
Circuit diagram of latching circuit is simple and can be easily built.
It will work with other dpdt twin coil latching relays but the resistor and capacitor values may need to be adjusted to suit.
If you would like to turn it off you will need another switch.
They are easy to understand you can see them working and they are still in use today in many many systems to switch voltage into circuits to.
The circuit as shown has been tested with the jaycar sy4060 relay.
Relays with lower resistance coils will need larger value capacitors and smaller value resistors.
A latching relay is electrically set to one position and it remains latched in that position until it is electrically reset to the opposite position.
This creates a basic memory function the relay remembers.
The diagram above shows how such a relay can be used to make a latching relay circuit the circuit has two buttons one is a push to make which closes when pressed but is otherwise open and the other is a push to break which opens when pressed but is otherwise closed.
When we press push button supply goes to relay a1 point and relay gets on and its contact changes but when we release push button supply cutoffs and relay gets off.
Other methods of operating can be used i used an automotive car remote control central door lockin.
Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by an independent low power signal.
This is achieved when an electromagnetic current generated by the electrical input from the first device attached to the relay causes the contacts in the switch to open or close.

Latching locking relay circuit.
A general purpose relay switch is designed to function as a bridge on one or more connected devices or circuits receiving an input signal from one source and transmitting an on off set reset output to another.
A relay is an electrically operated switch it consists of a set of input terminals for a single or multiple control signals and a set of operating contact terminals.
There are two kinds of latching relays.
An electrically latched relay is a standard relay with one of its own contacts wired into its coil circuit.
The wa4 mechanical latching unit for af tactors can be easily converted into compact latched contactors.
The two schematic wiring diagrams below show how to wire an electrically latching relay circuit.
