Lean To Shed Roof Rafters

Install the gussets on both sides of all the rafters except for the gable end rafters.

Insert 5 support beams on the front and back of the shed to hold up the sloping roof. This is a lean to shed. Cut the roof sheets from 3 4 plywood and then attach them to the top of the shed. Cut the support beams and insert them under the roof.

I made the rafters and got them up today. Lean to rafters then connect to a ledger board against a wall of another shed or house. You can use common rafters on any shed roof but they make the most sense when constructing a gable roof or lean to type shed roof where they can sit on or attach to top plates of a wall. Measure as precisely as possible down to the 1 4 inch 0 64 cm 1 8 inch 0 32 cm or 1 16 inch 0 16 cm. Align the edges flush drill pilot holes and insert 1 5 8 screws to secure them into place every 8 along the rafters. Now build the remaining roof rafters using the original rafter template and the jig on the shed floor. It was not all that hard building a shed roof.
